Inter House English Debate
(Opinions at War at Unity College)

The Annual Inter House English Debate was held at Unity College on 24th July, 2010 by the English Literary club. The topic for the seniors reads- ‘Inflation is necessary for economic development ‘and for the juniors –‘Modern Economy has made life comfortable and easy but has snatched away peace of mind’.

The young debaters oozed weighty views in their own convincing manner. Their speeches were punctuated with frequent applauses and cheers. A panel of Judges Ms. Sadaf khan from Brains Convent, vice- Principal Ms. Tasveer Zehra Naqvi and teacher Mr. Suhail Raza marked the merit of the speeches. Anayah Zehra of Class XI-B was adjudged the best speaker, followed by Anamta Ali of Class X-C and Usama Farrokh of Class X-C as II and III runners up respectively at the senior level; where as Marzia Rizvi of VIII-A and Azra Tanveer of Class VII-A clinched the first place jointly followed by Rizwan Askari of VII-B and then Khizra Rizvi of VII-A at the junior level. Gandhi House was declared the Champion House.

Commenting on the commendable performance of the speakers, judge and Vice Principal Ms. T.Z. Naqvi said the pulse of the hour is that each student should keep himself aware of his surroundings and should be vocal in expressing his views.

Principal Mr. Francis Castelino brought the event to a close with words of thanks and appreciation.
