The Urdu Department of Unity College had organized a cultural programme ‘Kahkashan’ on 14th May, 2010. The programme represented a potpourri of plays, conical skits, poetry and other literary spectacles.

Kahkashan offered a star studded function for the spectators. The function began with divine rendition of the Holy Quran by Insia Houra, a student of Class IX-C

The programme continued with the welcoming of guests: Mrs Roop Rekha Verma (Ex-Vice Chancellor, Lucknow Unviersity), Mrs. Sabiha Anwar (Principal, Karamat Inter College), Mrs. Sabra Habib (Professor in Lucknow University and Member of Managing Committee, Unity College) and Mr. Anees Ashfaq (Head of Urdu Department, Lucknow University). Also present on the occasion were host of eminent personalities alongwith President of the College Dr. S. Kalbe Sadiq Secretary (Brig.) S. Yawar Husain and Principal Mr. Francis Castelino.

The function show cased two short plays namely –‘Tarraqqi Pasand Ghalib’ and ‘Munshi ji ‘. Apart from the regular plays, two comical skits were also staged namely ‘ Sehre Mein Marsiya’ and ‘ Shahri Masail’. The day not only witnessed some brilliant performances by the actors but also some comical Urdu poetry by Asfia Zaidi and Eram Fatima.

The cogent portrayals were highly lauded by the guests as well as the viewers as they were spell bound by this magical medley. Chief Guest Mrs. Roop Rekha Verma and Guest of Honour Mrs. Sabiha Anwar and Mr. Anees Ashafaq appreciated the efforts and hard work put in by the teachers of the Urdu Department as well as the students who impressed everyone by their mind-blowing performances.
